Recently I’ve been seeing a lot of composite work on different forums and groups and thought I’d give it a try. So yesterday I took out my camera and snapped a quick pic of myself to work on.
(Pretty weird to do this since I’m always behind the camera). After watching some tutorials online I got a basic idea of what I was trying to do so I cut myself out of this photo and pasted it on this background.
Once I corrected the lighting and shading to blend me and the background I started playing with brushes. This is where it started getting fun. There are so many packages online to d/l any type of brush you could be looking for. I spent an hour just getting as many as I could and playing with them over my image. From beginning to end this photo took around 6hrs to make (most of the time was small trial and error mistakes that would send me back to start) but I feel pretty good about it being my first composite and that it’s one of me.
This morning I got up and wanted to see if I could do something different and faster so I grabbed this picture of my friend modeling for me over summer. This took me 30mins.
The possibilities are endless when compositing and that’s what I really like about it. I can’t wait to grab more photos this week and seeing what I come up with. Now that I have the basics down it’s time to start getting creative.
